As soon as you start a new job, the first thing you should do is look up the version and edition details of the database servers. And you’ll be able to know it in several ways.
- The version information will be visible in the object explorer once SQL Server Management. Studio has established a connection to the server. It will also inform you of the instance to which you are currently connected.
- ERRORLOG additionally contains version information.
- To find out the version and edition details of the server you are connected to, you can also just type the following.
SELECT @@version
